What are the connection methods for hearing aid ear molds?

The sound tube and the ear mold have two connection modes, one is a direct connection mode, and the other is an indirect connection mode.

1) Direct connection method. The sound tube is directly connected to the bottom of the ear canal of the ear mold and used as a sound hole, so that the sound tube of the ear mold has a smooth connecting channel to avoid generating an additional formant. In order to better fix the sound tube, a gold-plated iron metal ring is often added to the portion where the tube is connected to the ear mold, but this also adds difficulty and cost to replacing the sound tube. Soft ear molds often use this connection method.

2) Indirect connection. That is, an adapter with a hard plastic structure is connected to the ear mold, and the other end of the adapter is directly connected to the sound tube. There are two types of adapters. One is a discontinuous adapter. This method is commonly used in domestic production of hard ear molds. The other is an adapter that can continuously and smoothly connect the sound tube and sound hole, such as:CFA (continuous flow adapter), is a patented product. This adapter prevents additional formants from being created by a smooth connection.
