Principles of treatment

1) drugs: if otitis media, most of them can be improved by drugs.

2) operation: for patients with long-term and recurrent otitis media, a middle ear airway may be considered. The congenital malformation of the external auditory canal can also be improved by operation. In addition, tympanoplasty and tympanoplasty are commonly used.

3) hearing aids: most patients with sensorineural hearing impairment can get help by installing hearing aids.

4) artificial electronic ear: for a few patients with very severe hearing impairment, if the cause is from the inner ear and cannot be improved by the hearing aid, the artificial electronic ear should be implanted surgically.

5) hearing and speech rehabilitation: hearing and speech rehabilitation and special education are required for hearing impaired patients of any degree after hearing aid is installed to help children adapt to life and learning.

Therefore, a complete treatment team should include:

Otologists, audiologists, audiologists, audiotherapists, speech therapists, social workers, psychologists and special education teachers.

Where consultation, diagnosis and treatment are available

1) personnel and equipment for hearing assessment and treatment are available in the otolaryngology department of general medical center and regional hospital.

2) hearing impaired children need special hearing rehabilitation, which is available in both public and private hearing rehabilitation centers.
