1. Place the patient and sit on a chair of moderate height;

2. Explain the process of taking the model to the patient, obtain its cooperation, and eliminate the tension;

3. Check the external auditory canal and pull the direction of the auricle (adults upwards outwards, children downwards and backwards)

4. Place a cotton barrier at the mouth of the ear canal, pull the auricle to straighten it, and push the cotton barrier to the second curve by rolling up and down, the size of the cotton barrier should be moderate, and the size of the second curve;

5. Mix the ear-like ointment and inject it through a syringe. Always hold down the cotton barrier and pull the cord when injecting.

6. When injecting the ear ointment, pull the auricle again to straighten it, and then inject the ointment. The injection tube should have a gap with the mouth of the ear canal. When finished, do not press the ointment too hard to prevent the ears from being too large, and let the patient open and close the mouth to make the ointment match the skin

7. When taking out the ear mold, gently pull the ear mold away from the auricle. Air enters to ease the sealing. In addition, let the patient open the mouth (open the Eustachian tube) and slowly rotate the ear mold upwards, outwards, and backwards, and it will go smoothly. Take out the ear mold;

8. Check the ear canal to ensure that there is no foreign body left in the ear canal;

Note: A complete ear impression should include: ear canal, ear canal opening, tragus, helix, ear, and nail cavity; after passing the second bend, the surface is smooth and free of bubbles, cracks, dents, etc.
